The journey continues - Urlaur Pattern, Monday August 4th, 2014
Urlaur Abbey is located in the Parish of Kilmovee, Co. Mayo and is the centre of Faith Tradition in our community. Though classed by some as "ruin" it is the touching stone of Faith and Heritage for many in the area and beyond.
ONE PARISH - FOUR AREAS - ONE WELCOME!!
August 4th has come and gone again! It was a glorious day in every sense of the word! Gathered in the ancient Abbey, Bishop Brendan's homily led us along a path of reflection and celebration. It was a joy to hear the singing of the choir, the response of the people and the Prayer of The Eucharist. How appropriate, how essential to begin the day's gathering in this noble and prayerful way.
The festivities continued through the day and into the next!
Music, song, dance, children's activities, family fun, sports events and more - much, much more went into making the Pattern Day a wonderful success.
It is to the credit of many that such a day takes place each year. The work put in, though not always acknowledged, is central and full praise is due to a very hard working and dedicated Pattern Committee.
Thanks to all who came along and joined in every aspect of the day. We trust you enjoyed the day and certainly we enjoyed seeing you there.
The few photos here capture some of the moments. There are other photos too on www.kilmovee.info (Album 1 and Album 2) that are well worth taking a look through. (Thanks to Rupert Davis for his fine work and keen eye)
That God may spare us all again til this time next year! Urlaur Pattern 2015!
